Jianan Huang
Baritone
Chinese Baritone Jianan Huang, was born in Fuzhou, in the Fujian province of China.
Mr. Huang begin his musical training at the young age of five when he began taking piano lessons. He started singing at age 20.
Mr. Huang moved to the United States where he studied at Indiana University and obtained a Master of Music degree at their Jacobs School of Music.
Mr. Huang made his American professional debut at The Cleveland Opera singing the role of Marcello in La boheme and in 2016 his Italian debut as Conte Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro at the Terni Opera Theatre in Rome.
The 2019 season took Mr. Huang to the Denver International Music Festival where he performed the role of Sharpless in Madama Butterfly.
Mr. Huang was invited back to his hometown Fujian in 2015 where he performed the role of Valentine in Faust at the Fujian Opera House.
Mr. Huang has performed such roles as Garibaldo in Rodelinda, Escamillo in Carmen, Marcello in La boheme, Conte Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Valentine in Faust, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte, Gianni Schicchi in Gianni Schicchi among others.
Mr. Huang is a past district winner of the Metropolitan Opera Council’s competition in the Kentucky District and a winner of the NASL Singing competition in 2016. He is an alumnus of the Rossini Festival. In 2019 he was chosen to attend the Georg Solti Master Class series in Beijing NCPA.
Mr. Huang lives in NYC.
