Keely Bosworth Borland

“Keely Borland as Rapunzel possesses a lovely voice and plays her screaming Act 2 fear quite well.” - Broadway World

"Borland imbues Maybud with both her magnificent, expressive soprano sound and her rubber-faced comic naïveté." "Borland’s charm makes Maybud’s flightiness engaging." - TheatreBloom

"In any Pirates, an important challenge faces Mabel and Frederic in the second act. Having been typically silly G&S characters throughout, their exaggerated romantic and duty-bound natures, respectively, driving their comic excess, they must suddenly and credibly handle the score’s sweetest moment, the touching duet “Ah leave me not to pine.” Borland was able to generate the requisite emotion, physically as well as vocally." - ShowBizRadio

"Most young vocalists today focus on opera, with its big arias and grand passions. Operetta demands a lighter approach...The two singers who had the best grasp of operetta style were baritone Aaron Jacons Keeney, playing the chamberlain Pimpinelli, and soprano Keely Bosworth Borland, playing the opera singer Bella Giretti." - Broad Street Review (Philadelphia)

Praised for her 'magnificent, expressive soprano sound' and applauded for her 'rubber-faced comic naïveté’ (TheatreBloom), Keely Bosworth Borland is quickly establishing herself as a dynamic lyric coloratura soprano.

Ms. Borland recently made her St. Petersburg Opera debut as Rapunzel in Sondheim’s Into the Woods, where Broadway World remarked that she “possesses a lovely voice and plays her screaming Act 2 fear quite well.” Other notable performances include Gretel/Hansel and Gretel, Serpina/La serva padrona, First Lady/The Magic Flute, Flora/The Turn of the Screw, Barbarina/ Le nozze di Figaro, Mme. Silberklang/The Impresario, Mabel/The Pirates of Penzance, Noémie/Cendrillion, Lucy/The Telephone, Baker’s Wife (cover)/Into the woods, Bella Giretti in Franz Lehar’s Paganini, and Josephine/H.M.S. Pinafore.

As a 2014 Gate City Bank Young Artist at Fargo-Moorhead Opera, she covered the roles of Elena/Buried Alive by Jeff Myers and Victoria/Embedded by Patrick Soluri - two world premiere operas co-commissioned by Fargo-Moorhead Opera, Fort Worth Opera, and the American Lyric Theatre. She has also been an Emerging Artist with St. Petersburg Opera, Apprentice Artist with the Ash Lawn Opera Festival, and a Professional Artist at SongFest. A versatile performer, Ms. Borland has performed as Soprano Soloist in Vivaldi's Gloria in D, Rutter's Requiem, Faure's Requiem, and David Lang’s Little Match Girl Passion with The Resurrection Series.
