Maria Zoi



Born in Athens, the Greek mezzo-soprano Maria Zoi already exhibits a significant stage experience in Europe, including operatic and concert performances in some of the most distinguished theatres and concert halls such as the Greek National Opera(Flora in La Traviata), Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Athens Concert Hall Megaron, Royal Theatre of Thessaloniki, Ephesus Ancient Theatre Turkey, Carl-Orff Saal Gasteig Munich, Concert Hall of the Ludwig-Maximilian University Munich, Kongresshalle Nuremberg, Vienna Townhall, Concert Hall of Baden-Vienna.

Ms. Zoi studied classical singing in Athens under the internationally acclaimed Greek tenor Zachos Terzakis “Diploma with top Honor”, as well as in the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich, from where she graduated in 2015 receiving the highest qualification Degree “Meisterklasse Gesang”.

Ms. Zoi has further taken a series of lessons by KS Jeanne Piland in Düsseldorf and took part in masterclasses given by stage directors and famous lyrical singers such as Cheryl Studer, Gabriele Lechner and KS Bernd Weikl among others.

During her studies, Ms Zoi performed on stage the roles of Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Prinz Orlofksy in Die Fledermaus and Flora Bervoix in La Traviata, being praised by critics “for her wide vocal range, interpretation and remarkable coloratura ability”.

As a soloist, she has cooperated with several symphony orchestras: Nürnberger Symphoniker, Greek National Opera Orchestra, State Orchestra of Thessaloniki, City of Thessaloniki Symphony Orchestra, City of Athens Symphony Orchestra, Kammerorchester Orpheus Wien.

In 2016, she was awarded the “Richard Wagner Scholarship” by the famous Festival in Bayreuth Germany. Finally, it is worth mentioning her early career in Greek "Art Music", which started just at the age of fifteen, when the renowned Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis revealed her natural vocal talent. Since then, Ms Zoi took part in numerous concerts and discography interpreting Theodorakis' works and was established as one of the most ideal interpreters of his music. In the parallel with her music studies, she received a BA in Communication & Mass Media from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Ms. Zoi lives in New York City, where she studies under world-renowned bass Dimitri Kavrakos.
