Tina Gorina
Soprano

Spanish soprano Tina Gorina came to international attention with her debut in the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona last season as Despina in Così fan tutte. She continued her association with the Liceu as Rosina in El Superbarber, an adaptation in Catalan of Il Barbiere di Siviglia by G. Rossini, brought to the stage by Tricicle and performed throughout Spain for the last nine seasons. Ms. Gorina traveled to Perpignan, France for the premiere of Les flors del Mal by X.Benguerel in the Théâtre L’Archipel, conducted by Mº Daniel Tosi. She debuted as Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in the Teatro Principal of Castellón, Spain, and in Antonio Salieri’s rarely-performed Il rico d’un giorno, a production of the Fondazione Arena di Verona at the Teatre Salieri de Legnano. With Ópera de Catalunya she was seen as Oscar in Un ballo in maschera and in the title role of Marina by Arrieta. She sang Gilda in Rigoletto, Lucia in Lucia de Lammermoor, and Musetta in La Bohème with Concerlírica Ópera Internacional in a variety of theaters around Spain. She debuted as Leila in Les pêcheurs de perles in Auditori de Cornellá, Barcelona.

Ms. Gorina has placed in a number of important competitions, among them the first prize at the 10th Julián Gayarre international singing competition in Pamplona in September, 2004; second prize at the XI Bilbao international singing competition in November,2006; a special award to the best Catalan singer at the 44st Francesco Viñas international singing competition held in Barcelona in January, 2007; third prize at the 25th Ciudad de Logroño international singing competition in April, 2007; second prize at the Luis Mariano international singing competition, in Irun (Euskadi) in July, 2007; third prize in XI Manuel Ausensi contest for young voices at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in May, 2008; third prize at the I International Singing Competition of Torrelavega, Cantabria in May, 2010; third prize at the VI International singing competition of Colmenar Viejo, Madrid in February, 2011; first prize at the X International Singing Competition of Alcoy, Alicante in March 2011; and third prize at the XVII International singing Competition Riccardo Zandonai, in Riva del Garda, Italy in June, 2011.

She has performed with the renowned tenors Jaume Aragall (at the Summer Festival of Castell de Cap Roig and at the Teatro Farándula in Sabadell), and Jose Carreras (at the Nad Al Sheba Club in Dubai, U.A.E., in Clifton College in Bristol, U.K. and in the Roman Theatre of Ohcrid, Macedonia). Tina Gorina began studying music at the Music School in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Girona. She qualified as a piano teacher at the Conservatori Isaac Albèniz in Girona, where she took her first steps in the art of song. She pursued advanced studies in piano at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu (the Liceu Conservatory) and gained the qualification of “Advanced Professor of Singing” at the same institution, where she received the Prize of Honor. She complemented her vocal technique with the soprano Raina Kabaibanska at l’Accaddemia di alto perfezionamento per cantanti lirici Fondazione Arena di Verona, Italy and at the Centre de perfeccionament Plácido Domingo of the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valéncia ,Spain, with maestro Alberto Zedda.

Her extensive repertoire includes: Serpina in Pergolesi’s La serva padrona, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, the Queen of the Night In Die Zauberflöte, Adina in L’Elisir d’amore, Marie in La fille du régiment, Norina in Don Pasquale. Zarzuela roles she has performed include the title role of Katiuska (Sorozábal), and Francina in Cançó d’amor i de Guerra. In the realm of oratorio, she has been seen as the soloist in the Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Exultate, Jubilate and Fauré’s Requiem, among others. She can be heard on CD in the contemporary song cycle Palau d’hivern by Xavier Benguerel.
