Dramatic coloratura soprano Linda Holloway is a compelling and dynamic artist, renowned for her extraordinary vocal technique and captivating stage presence. Often praised for her “remarkable technical skill……[that] combined exquisite vocal phrasing with convincing stage presence”.
Ms. Holloway’s repertoire includes a wide range of iconic roles, including Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Constanze in The Abduction from the Seraglio, Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, Gilda in Rigoletto, Musetta and Mimì in La bohème, and Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito, Mme. Goldentrill in The Impresario, Casilda in The Gondoliers, and Josephine in HMS Pinafore.
Ms. Holloway has taken the stage at notable opera companies across the globe including Teatro Municipal de La Paz (Bolivia), Opera Metropolitan (Medellín, Colombia), Charlottesville Opera, Opera Naples, Gulfshore Opera, Opera Tampa, St. Petersburg Opera, New Century Opera, and the Gilbert and Sullivan Players, among others.
In an exceptional collaboration with her husband, baritone Christopher Holloway, the couple performed socially distanced concerts with St. Petersburg Opera throughout the pandemic. Their efforts culminated in a fully staged, costumed performance of opera scenes and arias with orchestra—the first operatic production to reopen St. Petersburg’s Palladium Theater after its closure for over a year.
Her recent portrayal of Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor with Opera Metropolitana (Medellín, Colombia) was met with critical acclaim and “showcased her exceptional technique and profound dramatic commitment.”
Looking ahead, Ms. Holloway will perform as the soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah with both the Sarasota Choral Society and Sarasota Orchestra in December. In early 2025, she will return to Teatro Municipal de La Paz for a production of Rigoletto, where she will take on the role of Gilda.
Her international experience includes training and performing in Vienna, Austria, as well as presenting several oratorio works in Rome. Throughout her early career, she had the privilege of coaching with the legendary Sherrill Milnes and continues to refine her craft through coaching sessions with Caren Levine (Metropolitan Opera), Brian Jauhiainen, and Kirsten Arnold (voice).
Ms. Holloway currently resides in her hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida with her husband, baritone Christopher Holloway, and their eight beloved cats: Shadow, Bandit, Ginger, Rosina, Marcello, Musetta, Enrico, and Prince Orlofsky.
